One Child's Village wishes to thank the
Government of Alberta's Culture and Community Spirit - International Devleopment Program (IDP) who awarded us $25,000 for community development in Bumala, Kenya. The IDP-funded projects are now complete. Stay tuned to see the final outcome in our next newsletter!
Projects
The Kenya government has declared HIV/AIDS a national disaster. The rate of HIV infection has increased to 8.5% of the population in the past year. Life span for the average Kenyan is now 45 years, leaving over 1 million children orphaned by AIDS. We are currently working with
Mercy Children's Centre, an organization that provides basic needs and education for children in the rural community of Bumala who have been orphaned by HIV/AIDS.
