Who We Are

Welcome to One Child's Village – a nongovernmental charitable organization whose main goal is to provide support for HIV/AIDS orphans.

We identify the children of the world as the most vulnerable members in our global family. Thus we believe service rendered to children is the most sacred. One Child's Village aims to provide the conditions, training and resources needed for the physical, emotional and spiritual well being of children affected by HIV/AIDS.

We are a registered Canadian Charity

OCV in Bumala!
2009 was a busy year. OCV will be in Bumala June 20 to June 30 to visit completed projects and continue working with our great partners in Kenya!

One Child's Village wishes to thank the Government of Alberta's Culture and Community Spirit - International Devleopment Program (IDP) who awarded us $25,000 for community development in Bumala, Kenya. The IDP-funded projects are now complete. Stay tuned to see the final outcome in our next newsletter!

Projects

The Kenya government has declared HIV/AIDS a national disaster. The rate of HIV infection has increased to 8.5% of the population in the past year. Life span for the average Kenyan is now 45 years, leaving over 1 million children orphaned by AIDS. We are currently working with Mercy Children's Centre, an organization that provides basic needs and education for children in the rural community of Bumala who have been orphaned by HIV/AIDS.

4th Annual Supper & Silent Auction

Howard Rent-a-Car to Raise Funds in Ottawa!
Many thanks to Howard Rent-a-Car who performed at the Elmdale House Pub in Ottawa on May 26th. All proceeds went to One Child's Village.

Can You Match Ailsa's Generosity?
On March 10 Ailsa, age 7 and a half, presented One Child's Village with an envelope full
of money for the children of Kenya. She raised $202 by organising a garage sale
offering her favourite toys.

Maximizing financial support for the children is important to us. One Child's Village functions solely on the contributions of volunteers and none of the organization's members are remunerated for their efforts. We attempt to keep overhead costs to a bare minimum, ensuring that almost 100% of the contributions received go directly toward the Village's designated projects.
