In mid-August we told you about Michelle, one of the orphans attending the Mercy Centre school in Bumala. Due to some unfortunate circumstances, she desparately needed a skin graft.
In sharing her story with you (read the story here...), we had asked for your assistance...and we were overwhelmed by your response. Not only did we reach our target, but you helped us surpass it. With your help, we raised over $6,000!!!
Michelle was able to have the skin graft surgery on August 20. The graft was successful and she is recuperating well in hospital.

Michelle receives regular visits from her grandmother and her teachers. Her grandmother also brings her hard boiled eggs to help with her protein intake and for a better recovery. If all continues to go well, Michelle will be able to return home next week.

We truly could not have done it without you! Because Michelle's story inspired so many people, donations received beyond what is needed for her full recovery will go towards a much needed health fund for the orphans of Mercy Centre.
We have already begun to provide the school with basic health care supplies and are planning for a much needed check-up for all students at the school to treat a variety of preventable health problems such as Jiggers, fungal infections, ringworm, and other parasitic infections.
Should you wish to support this new health fund, simply click on the "Donate Now" button below to make a donation through our secure credit card service or send your cheque or money order by mail.
Once again, many thanks!
