Who We Are

Welcome to One Child's Village – a nongovernmental charitable organization whose main goal is to provide support for HIV/AIDS orphans.

We identify the children of the world as the most vulnerable members in our global family. Thus we believe service rendered to children is the most sacred. One Child's Village aims to provide the conditions, training and resources needed for the physical, emotional and spiritual well being of children affected by HIV/AIDS.

We are a registered Canadian Charity

Hungry for a Difference! Like many of the orphaned children we assist in Kenya, the Grade 9 class of Westminster Junior High School will experience firsthand what it is like to be hungry. On May 3rd, they will go on a full 30 hours with only juice and water to sustain them.

Projects

In Kenya, over 1 million children are orphaned by AIDS. We are currently providing basic needs and education for orphaned children in the rural community of Bumala.

With our projects, we work towards giving orphans access to:

... primary school, uniforms, texts, school supplies, computer-assisted education and tailoring skills.

... health care, anti-malaria treatment, preventive medicine and first aid.

... a daily lunch program through high nutrition organic gardening at the school, with milk cows and egg hens.

Maximizing financial support for the children is important to us. One Child's Village functions solely on the contributions of volunteers and none of the organization's members are remunerated for their efforts. We attempt to keep overhead costs to a bare minimum, ensuring that almost 100% of the contributions received go directly toward the Village's designated projects.
