Water Well Installation

In December 2007, Kenya held an election. Suspected election rigging led to violent outbreaks throughout the country. The Bumala school had been relying on a neighbouring school's water well. As fears continued to rise, the school became protective of their resources and suddenly cut off the water supply to Mercy Centre.

A sobering experience for both Mercy Centre and One Child's Village, we immediately secured some funds to dig a water well. The well was dug manually. The first attempt was abandoned at 60 feet when they 'hit rock'. A new location was successful as water was obtained after digging 90 feet deep. Now Mercy Centre has peace of mind and can be self-reliant when it comes to the vital resource of water.
